John is one of NAWA's long-time members and has participated as a teacher in our classes as well as an exhibitor/competitor in our annual shows.  Be sure to check out his wonderful carving of the Seven Dwarfs which was the 3rd place Best of Show winner in the 2013 show (pictured on the Home page). He has a fabulous video on YouTube showing the carving of this piece from start to finish.  You can go to his web site/blog and view some of his other accomplishments.

Steve is an extremely talented caricaturist and a member of the Caricature Carvers of America.  He carries their incredible books plus a huge array of caricature rough-outs which I can personally attest, carve up into fabulous finished pieces.  You can also find kits for clever kaleidoscopes, pens, a number of books, including those written by him,  and more.  You can also purchase Steve's supplies at our show in November.

David lives in Smithville, TN and has been carving since 2006. A true artist, he regularly competes (and wins numerous awards) in our annual woodcarving shows here in Huntsville as well as other shows around the US.  He is extremely versatile, carving realistic, caricatures, animals, relief, busts, and even fireplace mantels.  In addition to his carving projects, he also teaches, both in his studio in Smithville as well as in seminars including Townsend, TN and Prattville, AL.  He accepts commissioned work and also sells some of his finished carvings.  You can find a gallery of his work, carvings for sale,  and a list of classes he teaches on his website.

Dylan's business is now located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. An incredibly talented carver,  he exhibited and competed with us for many years until he moved out of the area. Dylan has been the recipient of numerous awards for his work in shows around the US and you can see samples of his work in our Show Winners galleries  He has just had a book published, Carving and Painting the Sea Captain.  A picture of the captain is shown here.  He accepts commissions.  Check his website for more information.

Our members swear by Heinecke's Northern Wisconsin basswood for their carving needs.  They have an online catalog that lists pre-cut sizes but they will cut to your specifications at no extra charge.  They also carry rough-outs by some well-known artists.  While they do not take charge cards, they will ship your order and then bill you.  Really great folks to deal with.

Gary does beautiful work and is an excellent teacher.  Go to his YouTube channel by clicking on the title above.  Subscribe to follow him on his creative journey and take advantage of his fabulous instruction videos.

One of our charter members, Phil Williams, swears by these folks who carry every size, shape, type, color, and quality of glass eye.  If you carve realistic animals, birds, fish, or people, you definitely want to check Tohickon out.  They have a gorgeous hardcopy catalogue as well.

These folks carry a general line of woodcarving merchandise.  Here you will find all sorts of tools, books, and other merchandise.  One of the must-haves for many of us are their Guge Sanders.  If you aren't familiar with these little jewels, check them out.  They are invaluable, especially for small or delicate carvings.  They have both a hard copy and online catalogue and a very nice website.

Arlene is a wonderful, generous soul, who allowed us to post her YouTube videos on line.  She has an unbelievable number of instructional videos and tons of woodcarving tips.  Since I was unable to keep up, however, I thought it would be easier for you to just go to her YouTube channel and see the fabulous videos she has posted.  Not only does she have an enormous number of carving projects but also tons of tips and tricks she has been kind enough to share.  She also has a new website with lots of goodies.  Click on the title to check it out.
