North Alabama Woodcarvers Association - NAWA
NAWA is a community of woodcarvers located in Huntsville, Alabama in the heart of the Tennessee Valley. We are passionate about promoting the love of carving, wood sculpting, whittling, and wood burning as an art and a hobby. We offer free classes in basic woodcarving, chip carving, and relief carving and hold an annual show and competition at the historic Round House in downtown Huntsville. Woodcarving is not difficult to learn, the tools to begin are not expensive, and we believe it will give you a lifetime of pleasure. We hope you will stay a while, explore our website, and join us soon at a monthly meeting, an Open Carving Session, a woodcarving class, or you can write to us at: email@example.com for more information.

Many of you look forward to attending the
Smoky Mountain Woodcarving Festival in
Townsend, Tennessee. This year it will be held on October 4 and 5, 2014
We are in desperate need of ornaments for the trees and wreaths for the upcoming show. As most of you know, the tree raffle and wreath auction are the major fund raisers at the show and we rely on member donations for all of the beautiful ornaments. We need ornaments in sets of 3 for the 3 trees 3 smaller ornaments for each of the wreaths. Please give your completed ornaments to Winnie Bailey. Thanks so much for your help.
One of our members, Tim Sullivan, is asking for three volunteers from our club to go the Northern Alabama Wood Crafter’s club meeting on the second Tuesday of October - (October 14) - at 6:30 pm. The purpose would be demonstrate three or four different types of wood carving. Each person would have 10 to 15 minutes. The North Alabama Wood Crafters meet at the Old Church at Burritt on the Mountain. You will find more information here. While Tim will be out of town that evening, Bob Hovde, who is a member of both clubs, will be there to welcome the volunteers that night.
This is an excellent opportunity to be able to spread the word about our club and to network with other valley woodworkers. Please email Tim here if you will be able to help out.
